FAQs

Who is NEOTENE?

A pseudonymous artist from Miami, working between Miami and Mexico City. The studio has chosen not to attach a legal name or a face to the work. The animal the work is about is named for a god who changed his shape so he wouldn't be seen; the studio has kept the habit.

How is the work made?

Images are developed digitally in the studio and executed in oil on canvas. This is a long-standing model in contemporary art: the artist originates the image and directs its production, and the studio executes it. Every original is unique, hand-painted, and one of one.

Are the paintings original?

Yes. Every work listed as an original is a unique 1/1 oil on canvas and will never be reproduced as an edition. Prints are drawn from separate compositions and are always labelled as editions with their edition size stated.

What do I receive?

The work, and a signed Certificate of Authenticity carrying the title, series number, year, medium, exact dimensions and — for prints — the edition size and this work's number, plus a unique reference logged in the studio register.

Why aren't prices listed?

Prices go out privately on inquiry, with condition, framing and delivery included in the quote.

How do I buy?

Write to the studio through the inquiry form. You'll get a reply with availability, price and shipping within two business days. Originals are invoiced directly; payment plans over three to six months are available.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. Works are crated stretched for domestic delivery, or rolled and tubed for international shipment, insured to full value in transit. White-glove delivery and installation are available.

Can I return it?

Originals may be returned within fourteen days of delivery in original condition. Return shipping is the buyer's.

Do you take commissions?

A small number each year. Expect a wait.
